Introducing London Town...
Join me and my lovely (anglophile) friend Andrea from the Willow Cottage Quilt Company as we excitedly wave the flag for our new Block of the Month programme: trumpet fanfare please for the London Town Sampler, a quilt that will take you on a wonderful, whistle-stop tour of the British capital...
We'll start our tour with a bird's eye view of the city from the London Eye, visiting Westminter Abbey and Big Ben before taking a cab to Buckingham Palace to catch the changing of the guard, next we're heading down river to the Tower of London and on to Greenwich to see the Cutty Sark, then it's off to the West End for some fabric shopping at Liberty's before a trip to the Park on the top deck of a London bus. And we'd better take a brolly, just in case.
London Town is our fourth Block of the Month programme and this year will run for nine months, from November 2022 until July 2023. Block of the Month participants receive an exclusive early access pattern and beautifully packaged kits containing everything they need to create twelve original London Town sampler blocks with my tried and trusted techniques, which include simple machine-piecing, creating angles, adding trims & embroidery and making bias tape. We include any little extras you will need and a few lovely surprises, just for you.
The quilt will finish at approximately 61" square and this year we're sewing with Tilda Fabric's glorious autumn collection, Hometown. We'll be revealing the quilt, sharing the fabric and opening up reservations on the 15th of August, so put the date in your diary and be sure to sign up for our newsletters.
The programme will also include a special password accessed blog - where I'll explore the history of the London landmarks which inspired my blocks and guide you through the techniques we cover - plus a private Facebook group so that we can all cheer each other on as we sew. Andrea and I always look forward to sewing with our talented and friendly block of the month participants and we're excited to share this new British-themed project with you in the year of the Platinum Jubilee. We so hope you’ll join us!
