Nutcracker Block of the Month
Lovely friends.
A couple of you have written to highlight some errors in the printed Nutcracker pattern book.
Firstly, my heartfelt apologies for those errors. Whilst I endeavour to use simple machine piecing techniques in my blocks, the patterns are complex, with plenty of 'moving parts' to keep track of. It doesn't matter how many times our block of the month pattern is tested and proof read, errors do slip through, for which the responsibility is all mine.
I appreciate how disappointing it must be for you and I am sorry for it. Many of you will have received full kits for this programme - rather than our usual monthly parcels - either by choice or to avoid costly customs charges (after the suspension of the de minimus threshold in the US). As some of you have chosen to sew ahead of the programme, I wanted to get the corrections to you as quickly as possible and you can download them here.
If you have a digital subscription, please note that these corrections only apply to the printed pattern book and not to the individual PDF block patterns released each month on the Willow Cottage Creative website.
The beauty of the block of the month format that we chose for these patterns is that every month I get to focus on one block, remaking it again for the video tutorial that accompanies each block pattern, so that it's fresh in my mind when participants have questions. And that also means that I can pick up any errors in the printed pattern.
As you know, I also love to share the inspiration for each block and to explore its inspiration in our BOM journal, which I hope enriches the experience for everyone who takes part. I feel a little sad that, in working ahead of the programme, you are missing out on all of the fun and extra support that sewing as a group offers.
Our programme has evolved considerably over the seven years we’ve been offering it. We’ve coped with many bumps in the road - postal strikes, delayed fabric and the small matter of a pandemic – but, as always, we are beyond grateful that you are travelling along with us on our block of the month adventures.
With my love,
Nicola xx.
